Julie has a bachelor of social work degree from Purdue University, and is a PRN medical social worker at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Kentucky.   She decided to return to college in August 1996 where she studied a basic science curriculum until entering the graduate program in 1999.  She finished her master's degree in biology December 2000 at Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne (IPFW).  Julie especially enjoyed her classes in immunobiology and genetics.  Julie was also a member of the IPFW Biology Club, where she was the chairperson for Earth Day 1999, and assisted with planning the ED2K celebration.  After earning her BSN and working as a Registered Nurse on the neurology/medical-surgical unit at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Julie continues as a student in the acute care nurse practitioner program at the University of Cincinnati.  She was a Staff Sergeant and medic in the United States Army Reserve.  For fun, she likes to go running, hiking, music by Ginny Owens, cooking new vegetarian recipes, and of course, training & showing dogs.  Julie is in charge of her church's mission to Tender Mercies.

Phil also graduated from IPFW (twice!) and holds an associates degree in criminal justice from Indiana University as well as a bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision, with a concentration in Sales & Marketing from Purdue University.  Phil now works for Universal Steel.  Phil was a Sergeant First Class and military police officer in the United States Army Reserve.  He enjoys landscaping, snow skiing, basketball, kneeboarding, boating, mountain biking, hiking, and golf.  Phil is a youth leader at Trinity United Methodist Church.
