From the AKC Belgian Sheepdog breed standard:

"The Belgian Sheepdog should reflect the qualities of intelligence, courage, alertness and devotion to master. To his inherent aptitude as a guardian of flocks should be added protectiveness of the person and property of his master. In his relationship with humans, he should be observant and vigilant with strangers, but not apprehensive."

This is a perfect description of Ness.  Watchful over her family and our property, Ness never failed to warn us of any dangers, real or imagined.

Ness  is the dam of our 1998 litter.  She was quite versatile, giving her all in whatever I asked of her.  She was shown sparingly in conformation and accumulated several Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex awards while earning minor points towards her AKC championship.  Ness also received her CGC at a young age.

Ness loved to perform, and gave quite a show during obedience trials!  She adored jumping and retrieving, and qualified twice in Open A.  Ness was very busy after turning age 9.  She also loved to track and earned her AKC TD on 13 April 2003.  Ness earned her AKC Novice Jumpers Preferred agility title at the BSCA National Specialty 22 April 2003.  Then on 21 June 2003 she earned her AKC Herding Tested (HT) title at the Emerald Valley Rottweiler Club's herding test and trial.

In her retirement, Ness enjoyed spending her days on the couch, taking walks, doing an occasional track or obedience demonstration, and getting doggy massages.
